Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit Installation - 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe- Video
Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Roadmaster diode wiring kit for flat towing. Adding a diode wiring kit to the taillights on your Tahoe is going to give you the same type of functioning that you would if you had trailer lights. So because you're pulling your vehicle behind your motor home, you have to be able to transfer the lighting signals from the motor home to the back of your Tahoe, and that's what these are designed to do. They're gonna tie in behind the taillights with your factory wiring so that when you're not using your vehicle to be flat towed behind your motor home, your taillights are gonna operate just as normal. There are a couple other options out there on the market for lighting to get lights to the back of your vehicle while you're flat towing it. more

Today we've got a 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 Duramax, and we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit. When you're flat towing your Silverado behind your motor home, you have to have a way to transfer lighting signals from the motor home to the back of your vehicle. Whether that comes from your stick on magnetic lights, your bulb and socket, those two methods are kind of an older method of transferring those signals, that's where diode wiring comes into play. This is my favorite way to transfer those signals 'cause you're just using your tail lights as if they are your trailer lights. It's essentially the same thing. more

When it comes to flat towing any vehicle, there's gonna be five main components that are gonna be required. Now you may have a few auxiliary things that you're gonna want to add in, but these are gonna cover at least safely getting your vehicle down the road. And starting on the vehicle side, we have our base plate and this is gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle and create the structural mounting point for the rest of the components. And that's where our tow bar is gonna hook up to the arms. The tow bar is gonna be the physical connection between the hitch on the RV and the base plate on your towed vehicle. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer, and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Roadmaster diode wiring kit. Adding diode wiring to your blazer is going to help you to transfer the lighting signals from your motor home to the back of your blazer whenever you're flat towing. Now some other options that you have for lighting whenever you're flat towing your vehicle are going to be magnetic lights, which can kind of be a hassle to set up because you have to run a 4-pole from the back of your vehicle all the way up to the front every single time you wanna flat tow. And then you have to find a place to store those whenever you're not using 'em. So I really don't care for those, especially with newer vehicles having aluminum panels on the vehicle, you can't stick the magnets to those so you're gonna have to have- find a different place to be able to mount those up. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit on a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Now there's five main components that are required for flat towing any vehicle, and we'll break those down. The first one is gonna be the base plate, and that's gonna structurally mount to the frame of the vehicle and create a mounting point, not only for your tow bar but the rest of the components. So our tow bar is going to be the connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. And also, going from the base plate to the hitch, is gonna be our safety cable. So just like you'd hook up to a trailer, you wanna make sure you have those cables in place, just in case of that disconnect. more

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Diode Wiring Kit on a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's five required components when flat towing any vehicle, and on our Chevy 1500 today, we'll start by taking a look at the base plate, and the base plate is gonna mount to where the factory tow hooks were or structurally to the frame of the vehicle, creating a mounting point for the rest of your components, and also your tow bar. Tow bar is your second component, and that is connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now just like a trailer, we have our safety cables here that'll attach to the tabs on the base plate that are gonna be your safety chain loops, and then you'll just attach those to the safety chain loops on your RV. We also have our diode wiring, which is gonna transmit the light signals from the RV to the taillights on the towed vehicle, keeping you safe and legal. more

Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. Diode wiring is definitely becoming the normal trend when it comes to flat towing vehicles. The other alternatives are going to be magnetic lights, which those work fine, but the problem is these newer vehicles, and especially Jeeps, a lot of 'em aren't magnetic. So you're not gonna be able to have those be able to stick on there, and then you're still having to drape that wire every time you want to hook up and then you have to store them. Where diodes, once you have 'em installed, you just plug in your umbilical and they're ready to go. Now depending on your needs, the diode kits are available in a few different configurations and really it comes down to what other accessories do you need to pick up. So you can get the kit with a 4 pole end, with no ends on it. You can also get it with an umbilical that is a straight cable, a coiled cable or a hybrid cable. And that's gonna be important if your tow bar, our Roadmaster has our umbilical, but you are gonna need to have that component to make sure that your flat tow system works. So getting it with your diode wiring might not be a bad time to group that all together. more

So if you don't have an umbilical to attach from your six-pole to your seven, you can get it with three different styles. There's a straight cable, a hybrid cable, or a coiled cable. Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing Roadmaster's Diode Wiring for Towed Vehicle Kit on a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's five main components when flat towing a vehicle that are gonna be required on your Silverado to get it down the road. And the first one is gonna be your base plate that's gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle, creating a mounting point not only for some of your other components, but your tow bar. And your tow bar is the connection point between that base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now, going along with that, we have our safety chains, and these are going to make sure in case of a less than likely but potential of a disconnect, these are gonna keep everything still attached. more

Having diode wiring on your towed vehicle is really a great way to kind of step in to a new generation of flat towing. A lot of times, you've probably seen the magnetic lights that stick on vehicles and that is just one more component that you have to manually put on there and stow each time you use it. Well, diode wiring makes it nice and easy because you tie it into your factory taillights and it runs to the six pole on the front of the vehicle. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we have a 2013 Cadillac SRX and we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Demco Diode Wiring Kit. Adding diode wiring to your vehicle is gonna allow you to get the functions from your motor home to the taillights on your towed vehicle. There's a couple of different ways that you can go about this. Diode wiring is my favorite way to do it, but you can get magnetic lights, which are the lights that you'll see on the back of people's cars. On the SRX, you would have to mount them up here further because this is going to be a plastic part. more

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster Smart Diodes on a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Adding diode wiring to a flat towed vehicle is slowly becoming kind of a requirement. A lot of times you see flat towed vehicles with the magnetic lights and you have to drape those wires up. Well, nowadays you can tie into the factory taillights and that way when you plug into your 6-pole to the seventh via the umbilical you're gonna get all the same light sequences from the RV. So as you brake, use your turn signals, use your running lights, it's all gonna transmit to the back of your vehicle letting people know what you're indicating to do. more

Today we just use the bare wire without an umbilical, but you can also pick it up with a few different styles of umbilical if you need one, including a straight cable, a hybrid cable, or a coiled cable. You can also get your wiring with a four-pole end attached. Now, all of this is going to give you the same function of transmitting the light sequence from the RV to the taillights on the vehicle. more
